When they came to WeMakeWebsites, Magento 1 was limiting the business across the board. Mobile performance was poor at a point when mobile accounted for most of their traffic. CBD product lines added real compliance complexity the platform couldn't handle cleanly. The business had ambitions to sell across the UK, US, and EU but the infrastructure couldn't support it without significant workarounds. A separate CBD microsite had to be maintained outside the main store, creating operational fragmentation the team couldn't sustain as the brand grew.

Magento 1 to Shopify Plus Migration
Product data, customer accounts, and order history were all migrated across. Every existing URL was mapped before a single page moved, with redirects built to protect the organic equity the brand had built on Magento. The store went live without disruption to trading.

CBD-Compliant Product Architecture
A compliant product handling system was built within Shopify Plus to manage CBD line restrictions by market. The separate CBD microsite was consolidated into the main store with appropriate compliance controls in place, removing the overhead of maintaining two separate storefronts.

Multi-Region Store Setup
Three Shopify Plus instances were configured for the UK, US, and EU markets with localized pricing, currency, and content per region. The internal team gained full control over market-specific promotions and product visibility without needing developer input for routine updates.

Mobile-First UX Redesign
The new theme was built around the mobile experience from the start. Product pages were redesigned to lead with clinical proof and ingredient storytelling, matching how This Works customers research before they buy. Mobile conversion rate grew 45% in the months following launch.
