150+ stores built, and not one of them next door.

Food, outdoor, apparel, parts. Whichever ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands you call, ask what they would change in your store before they mention where they sit.

The hard part is not finding somebody to work on your store. It is knowing which job to pay for first. There are a dozen things you could change and no obvious order to them.

So we looked at what is on offer here. Nineteen results, thirteen we could read.

Four were directories. Six were agencies writing about a single town. Three never mention Wisconsin anywhere. None of that tells you which job comes first, which is the only thing worth asking an ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands shortlist.

In short

Ecomm Wizards is an ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands hire to design, build, move and grow online stores. We work on the platform you are on today. The work happens in your store rather than in either of our offices, which is why the distance between them does not come up.

The store got built once, and then everybody got busy

Most brands here were a business long before they were a website. Cheese and beer, boats and gear, parts that end up inside somebody else's machine, sold in person for years first.

So the store usually got built once, by whoever was free at the time, and then everybody went back to running the actual business. Often nobody's whole job is the website. It still takes the orders, so it stops getting looked at.

That is the state an ecommerce agency Wisconsin founders brief often finds your store in. Not broken. Just nobody's.

Three brands, three trades, none of them nearby

Your store already knows which job comes first

You are not the first person to wonder. Your own platform records every step between landing and paying: the sessions that put something in a cart, the ones that reached checkout, the ones that finished. The drop at each step is already written down.

So the order is not an opinion. If most of the people who reach your checkout leave it, the homepage is not the first job. Your own numbers say which step loses the most, and they say it before anybody quotes you.

Ask to see that before you buy anything. Any ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands trust should open it with you, name the step that is leaking, and say what they would do about that one first.

What those 19 agency pages turned out to be

Everybody writes about how to choose an agency. Nobody counts what the choice actually looks like. So we opened all nineteen pages that come up for ecommerce agency Wisconsin and wrote down what each one was. No firm is named, because none of this is about any of them individually.

Read that back and the list stops looking like a ranking.

Four of them are directories, which exist to be lists rather than to do the work. Six are good local firms writing about the town they are in, which is the sensible thing for them to do. Three never mention Wisconsin at all.

None of that is anybody behaving badly. It is just that the thing you were hoping for, somebody capable and nearby, is not really what the list is made of.

The part worth noticing is the last row. The directories named thirteen towns between them. The firms named one each, their own. So whichever you call, you are almost certainly calling somewhere else.

Once you accept that, the question changes. It stops being who is closest and becomes who would change the right thing first. You can put that to any ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands shortlist.

Three things to ask whoever you call

  • Ask what they would change on your store first, before you tell them your budget. If the answer is the same thing they tell everyone, you have learned something.
  • Ask them to show you a store they built in your line of work, and what the numbers did afterwards.
  • Ask who you will actually speak to each week, and whether that person has seen your store yet.

Why the nearest name feels safer than it is

Closeness feels like accountability. If they are up the road you could drive over, and that feels like a guarantee even though you will never do it.

But none of the work happens in a room. It happens in your store, which both of you look at through the same screen from wherever you each are.

So the useful test is not distance. It is whether they looked at your store before they talked, and any ecommerce agency Wisconsin companies retain should be happy to be checked on that.

Want that list for your own store? Send the address over and you will have it the same week.

What we do

Take one of these, or the lot

Every row links to the store it was done for. Most brands come asking about one of these and leave having bought another. Together they are the whole of what an ecommerce agency Wisconsin teams retain gets asked to do.

Not sure which of the four you need? Tell us about the store and we will name the one we would start on.

Get in touch with us

The part that never changes

Four of them, whatever you buy. Put the same four to every ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands weigh up.

  1. We look at your store before we talk

You get told what we noticed and what we would do about it, in that order, before anyone asks you for a budget.

  2. You see the number before and after

Whatever we are asked to move gets written down at the start and again at the end. You get both figures rather than a sentence about them.

  3. Your store stays yours

The code, the logins and every customer record stay in your name throughout. Leave us tomorrow and you lose nothing.

  4. You sign the work off first

We agree what the job is in writing before a line of it starts. If that has to change midway, you hear it from us rather than find out later.

Where people push back

“We would rather work with somebody local.”

That is fair, and plenty of good firms are up the road from somebody.

Check the map before you decide, though. Of the nineteen pages we opened, every agency was writing about one town. So the nearest one to you is usually local to somebody else.

“How would we ever meet?”

On a call, with your store open in front of both of us. That is where the useful talk happens anyway.

If you want somebody in the room to kick off, we can talk about that. It rarely decides whether the work goes well, whichever ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands pick.

“Our store is not on Shopify.”

That is fine, and we would not start with the platform anyway. We work on whatever you run today, and we will say plainly if moving would help.

If it would not, you will hear that too.

“We are small, and in a small town.”

So are most of the stores we have built. The size of the town has never once shown up in the numbers.

What does show up is whether anybody looked properly at the store. That is the part an ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands recommend ought to do before quoting you.

Where we would start on your store

We go through your store the way one of your customers would, on a phone and on a desktop, and write down everything that got in the way. It takes an afternoon and it costs you nothing.

Then you get the list, in the order we would fix it, with the things we would leave alone marked as such. Most of the time the first two items are small and the third is the real job.

You can hand that list to anybody. An ecommerce agency Wisconsin brands keep should be willing to be judged on whether the list was right, not on how near the office was.

The first conversation is about your store rather than about us. It costs you nothing, including when the answer is that we would change very little.

What brands ask before they pick anyone

  • Less than it looks. Google says local listings are sorted partly by how far a business sits from you, so distance shapes the order before quality gets a say.

  • You can, but check what you get. Of the nineteen pages we opened, every agency was writing about one town. So the nearest name may be near somewhere else entirely.

  • Ask each of them what they would change on your store first, before money comes up. The answers differ enormously and the differences tell you who actually looked.

  • A call most weeks with your store on the screen, and a written list of what changed between them. You should know who you are speaking to by name.

  • Four jobs, mostly. It designs the storefront and every page somebody orders from. It codes what a theme cannot reach. It moves you off a platform you have outgrown. And it hunts for the sales a store loses quietly.

  • Yes. What you run matters less than what your customers hit, and that is the same question on every platform.

  • Yes, and that is how every job here runs. We hold no premises anywhere in the state, and your build does not change with where either of us sits.

  • No, and your location has never changed what we charge or what we do. The store is the same job whether you sit in Madison or three hours north of it.

  • Often it is the fastest path. Hand your developer our list and we will check the result, or we take whichever parts your team has no time for.

  • The walk through your store is an afternoon. The first fixes off the back of it are usually a week or two, and most of that is agreeing what comes first.

Next step

Send us your store and we will tell you what we would change first

The same walk through, done on your store instead.

Put your store address in the form, and you get back:

  1. What got in the way when we tried to buy something, on a phone and on a desktop.
  2. The order we would fix it in, and roughly what each one involves.
  3. The things we would leave exactly as they are.

You get the findings and nothing else attached to them.
